In March 2023, I started to activate and introduce a wider audience to the activities of the Centre for African Studies, Basel - the same academic centre where I am currently studying. The Instagram account already existed, but no posts had ever been published.

The first steps I had to take were to carry out a SWOT analysis, identify the target groups and develop a coherent graphic style and content strategy that would fit in with the guidelines of the University of Basel.

The calendar and the pillars of communication are in a continuous development process, and together with my supervisors we try to identify and evaluate the best strategies. However, we are seeing some impressive results. For example, some of the results currently on the dashboard are over 5,000% more accounts reached, over 70% more engagement and over 30% more followers compared to the previous month. We have also surpassed our initial goals, which motivates us to continue to improve our social media efforts.

To assess the impact within our community, I use the Business Meta Platform, the statistics collected by LinkTree and Instagram. I am also interested in the number of new people attending our events, the number of DMs and the number of new accounts sharing our messages on their stories.
